ALTA Online Monthly Seminar Series
About the Series
ALTA hosts an online monthly seminar series featuring
senior PhD students and postdocs from North America and
Australia talking about all things NLP. Each session pairs
one Australian speaker with one North American (or international) speaker,
giving the audience a snapshot of recent research from both sides of the
Pacific.
Motivation
Our motivation is two-fold — education and
awareness:
-
Education: provide a regular venue for the Australasian
NLP community to hear about cutting-edge work from senior PhD students
and postdocs.
-
Awareness: increase the exposure of NLP research and
surface it to people outside NLP and academia, including industry
practitioners working with LLMs and language data.
Time and Format
Target Audience
The seminars are intended for a mix of:
- Australian and New Zealand academics and researchers in NLP and related fields;
- Postgraduate (MSc / PhD) students working on language technology;
- Industry professionals interested in NLP and LLMs;
- Anyone curious about current research directions in language technology.
